Poke

Poke, originated from Hawaii centuries ago, began with fishermen seasoning the cut-offs from their catach to serve as a snack. The traditional Hawaiian Poke consist of fish that has been gutted, skinned, and deboned. The present form of Poke became popular around the 70's. It used filleted raw fish served with Hawaiian salt, seaweed, and roasted, ground Kukui Nut Meat. Poke is served as an appetizer in Hawaiian cuisine, and sometimes as an entree.
